The Complexity of C Section Healing
Part my story, part exhortation, part healing insights. I couldn't have written this any other way.
This has been a hard article to write. Not necessarily because it’s activating, although there has been some of that, but because I haven’t known how to tackle it.
Initially, I thought about writing a practical how-to guide for women to know what products to buy, what to advocate for in the doctor’s office and so on. Then I thought about my own healing, how it has been multifaceted, and writing about healing each aspect of the person - mind, body, heart and soul. The first felt insufficient. The second felt impossible, because healing those parts hasn’t happened piecemeal, and I couldn’t write about it that way.
The fact is recovery from a C section is complex and all-encompassing. Consequently, writing something cohesive and helpful has been a herculean task. However, I have been promising something, and here it is. My goal here is not to present a how-to guide, or to tell my own story strictly. Rather, by offering a loose mix of the two, I hope to provide something that captures the complexity of healing from a C section, and in so doing, offer some much needed solidarity.
